Just Completed

Consulting (Australia) & Associates in partnership with Dialog Information Technology has just completed an exciting pilot project for the Development Bureau of Hinchinbrook and Cardwell Shires. This project was funded by State Development and required the development of a Regional IT Portal (believed to be the first of its type in Australia) and the establishment of a Digital Community Centre, located in Ingham, North Queensland.

School students from Tully and Ingham State High Schools together with students from Gilroy Santa Maria College, Ingham were invitied to take part in various aspects of the consultancy. This gave the students valuable work experience in IT and project management.

The Regional Portal, which can be viewed at www.greatgreenway.com, will now provide a strong platform for future development in e-Commerce throughout the region - Ingham to Innisfail.

Consulting (Australia) & Associates were engaged by WorkNorth to undertake the Community Revitalisation programs using our skills in Systems Thinking and Transformational Change.
It is this work that formed the basis of the winning nomination.

Having undertaken a Community Revitalisation project in Charters Towers using our Scenario Planning and Systems Thinking processes,we have been invited to implement a similar project into the Lower Burdekin Region (Ayr/Home Hill).These projects have been funded by WorkNorth Inc. and are aimed at encouraging members of the community to take a more active role in the creation of their community's future.

An important part of our process is the ongoing support mechanisms which ensure that the 'Future Group' is not left without advice and assistance when they need it.

The project was addressed in a highly proficient and professional manner.

The evolution of the project from the commencement to focus on a consistent regional outcome was a virtue and created synergy amongst the communities.

The internet portal was established on a regional basis and your venture's facilitation in gaining support and involvement by all communities inspired the www.greatgreenway.com creation with an innovative ongoing management approach to ensure the web site is constantly evolving. The key part of your approach which must be commended was the involvement of the youth who will play an active role in the local internet steering committees which are being formalised.

The community awareness seminars held for the general public was of a high standard and well received and the involvement of all the regional High Schools and specific workshops targeted at the students was a very successful integral part of the project outcomes. The IT surveys conducted for the region with the assistance of the students will now allow a more strategic approach to facilitating IT/E-Commerce development and employment opportunities.

Special commendation must be made to your joint venture for the establishment of a high quality, consistently formatted, regional community portal that has made an immediate high profile impact.
